Partners in Health – Recognizing Nova Scotia’s Nurses

The doctors of Nova Scotia extend a heartfelt ‘thank you’ to the province’s talented and trusted nurses for their continued commitment and contributions to public safety, the health and well-being of Nova Scotians, and to the health-care system.

National Nursing Week is May 12 to 18 and physicians encourage Nova Scotians to take a moment to acknowledge the province’s dedicated nurses.

Doctors and nurses work side-by-side to provide the best possible care to patients. It’s this partnership that allows us to achieve the shared goal of improving a patient’s health and quality of life.

From registered nurses to nurse practitioners and licensed practical nurses, the profession of nursing touches the lives of Nova Scotians on a daily basis. With their passion and strong commitment to patient safety, nurses play an essential role in our health-care system and are a critical part of the overall health-care team.

Whether in hospitals, community clinics, schools, private homes, doctors’ offices, nursing homes, rehabilitation centres, business/industrial workplaces, the province’s nurses remain committed to providing safe, compassionate, competent care to patients.

Beyond the patient-centred care they continually provide, nurses in Nova Scotia often offer invaluable emotional support to patients and their families. National Nursing Week offers an opportunity for patients and colleagues to say “thanks” for the personal and professional contributions nurses make to the lives of Canadians.
